It was an unseasonably warm day (60) and very windy. Just did an easy run today. I felt a little stiff/tight getting started. Probably because I haven't ran much lately and did the 8 miles on the road yesterday. I was hoping to go longer but my run was the only thing standing between my teenage daughter and the mall. I had promised to take her and a friend this morning so cut the run off at 8. Next week I will try to get back to a normal week of somewhere around 60 miles. Also, will be deciding what I want to do next year so I can get my training structured depending on the distance that I will focus on.

It seems you have already recovered from the marathon, so that is good news. I am looking forward to seeing what distance you will specialize in for 2009.

In 2008 I focused on the 5k. Unbelievably it looks like 2009 will be the year for 50k and 50 mile races for me. How did that happen? :)

You seem to have really found your niche with the longer distances. I have noticed on your long days that your posts are very descriptive and exciting. It seems like you are really enjoying those experiences. I think I am going to concentrate on the middle distances (10k and half). I feel like I am needing a change after all of the focus on the marathon this fall. That is the great thing about running there are always new challenges.

One good thing about moving down in distance is you will be able to participate in more races throughout the season. With the marathon you only get 2 or 3 fresh tries per year. 10k and half won't burn your legs out with full efforts.

Running long distances at a moderate pace is my favorite running style right now. I love how time is altered, my thoughts are more active, the up and down energy swings, and being out in nature for hours. I enjoyed all the fast training I did last year for short distance, I learned a lot, and will continue to do fast-type workouts once the warm weather returns.
