It was cold this morning (25) but the wind was calm so that made a huge difference. Today I did a long tempo run. The way I have been doing these is running them longer than normal and running between tempo pace and marathon pace. Today I wanted to run 6:50 to 7:00. I hope that this will make the first part of the marathon seem easy. I have also been trying to run the very controlled effort. I felt better today the legs seemed to not be heavy like they had the last couple of days. I did a 2 miles warm up and then started the tempo. I felt good throughout the tempo part. The only issues was my calf acted up a couple of times. Around 3 miles is when it first started and noticed it for about a 1/2 mile. If it didn't get better I was going to cut the tempo short but it went away. It acted up again around 5 miles but only for a little bit and then didn't bother me the rest of the way. I really need to keep a check on this. Here are my splits for the tempo:

1st - 6:55

2nd - 6:53

3rd - 6:54

4th - 6:53

5th - 6:50

6th - 6:53

7th - 6:51

8th - 6:44

1:28:29 (7:15 avg)

Nice run and average. By picking the pace up it will make your MP feel easier in the marathon. Tempo's really do wonders for performance. Great job today.
