It was a nice day (47, but very windy) and I felt really good. I started off easily but soon felt like picking up the pace so I just went with it. I feel like I have finally shook this cold and my legs felt normal for a change. I didn't really push the pace I just ran at what felt comfortable but didn't hold back the pace either. It felt good to run a little bit faster for a change. Since the disappointment at Chicago I have been itching to get back and be able to race again. I feel like I am capable of so much more right now but it doesn't matter how I feel until I actually prove it in a race. I am looking at several upcoming races including potentially another marathon before the end of the year. I still want to give myself another week so that I am completely recovered from Chicago before I jump into something else but I need to get some races under my belt to get back mentally as well and restore my confidence in running.

Smart move to wait another week just to be safe. I hear you about wanting to do another marathon. I know your capable of getting a faster time right now because of your fitness. Pick one that you think would work. The CIM course looks good or P.F. Change in late January looks like a good course too. The Tucson Marathon also looks good.

Great run today in the wind.

Kory, I have looked at CIM and the other one that I am looking at is Rocket City in Huntsville, AL. I really want to do one before Christmas so that I can have some down time during the holidays and have more time with the family. Both of these are more hilly than I am used to so I am going to have to find some hills to train on. They both look like small rolling hills so shouldn't be too much of a problem and still are fast courses. You have had a great year so anything you do is icing on the cake.

CIM is hilly in the first half. Here's advise that I got from a friend that's ran it twice.

I've run CIM twice. It's an excellent event, but be prepared for rolling hills. It's only a fast course if you have trained on similar topography. I ran it last year after having trained in pancake-flat farm country and it killed me. The hills are a bunch of rolling 20- to 60-foot hills with moderate gradients in the first half. If you do even one hilly long run per week you'll be fully prepared for them. It is a very PR-friendly course overall, but not if you're coming straight off the prairie!

You can run on a treadmill and set the incline if your not finding good rolling hills in your area.

Jim F- I not sure what my plans are I pondered doing CIM because it's before Christmas and not do one after Christmas. Like you I want to enjoy the Holiday's and everything. This year has gone fast.
