I have been struggling with a calf injury and haven't run for about a month.  I have been able to bike and do the elliptical without any problems.  I thought I would get back to blogging since I did my first run in awhile.  After a lot of stretching I started off easy and didn't have too many problems.  My calf started tightening up so I stopped and stretched then felt better and completed the run.  I am going to try to get back to running very slowly so will continue to bike/elliptical while adding in a few runs to the routine.  If I can get back to full time running by the first of the year I will be happy.

I didn't really plan on running today but my schedule got tight and it was easier to get in a couple of miles then spend an hour on the bike.  I felt pretty good today and was able to get through the run without having to stop and stretch.  I could feel a little tightness in the calf but it never got to the point where it was causing any problem.  I have to travel tomorrow early then meetings all day so probably won't be able to get a workout in.

Huntsville, AL: I traveled yesterday and then had a long day of meetings so didn't get to exercise.  This morning I started out with 25 min on the elliptical then ran a couple of miles on the TM.  I felt good and didn't have any problems with my leg.  The elliptical was probably a good warmup and my legs was loose.

It was a nice day in the low 50's but very windy.  I traveled back from Huntsville yesterday and had a very long day so didn't get in a workout.  I am currently planning on an every other day run for now until I can build back up anyway.  I felt good today and didn't have any problems with the leg.  It was a little tight the first mile but felt good after that.  Today was the first time I wore a watch since I started back running again and I was surprised at my pace.  I thought I was running much slower.  It seems like my leg does better when I keep a better pace.

It was a nice day but very windy.  I felt good and started out easy to loosen up.  I felt good most of the way but started to feel tightening up in my calf so I cut it short and not risk any problems.  Really trying to take it easy and be start.  In the past when my calf went it went hard and then would take a couple of weeks to recover.  I hope that I can build it back up without any damage and get the strength back.
